Get Out Of Debt – 3 Ways To Make Fantastic Savings At Your Supermarket

It is extremely unpleasant being in debt. Having the worry of not knowing how to pay for the bills and put food on the table. Fortunately, there are ways to save money and still have a great standard of lifestyle. By making a few changes to the way you shop for you food you will be well of the way to being debt-free.

There are several ways of saving money at the supermarket. Firstly, don't fall for the tricks they play so that you end up spending more money than you would of otherwise. How many times have you been to your supermarket for a pint of milk and a loaf of bread and came back with a trolley full? This is the power of supermarket marketing. Their aim is to make you feel good about your shopping experience and ultimately get you to spend more money with them.

When to buy in bulk Don't just buy any old deal. If you see an offer on a particular item, maybe advertised on TV such as half price washing powder ' go into your supermarket and buy several packs of these. Sounds mad? But you will benefit in the long run and the savings will take care of themselves. So why do supermarkets slash so much off the prices of certain items ' how do they make a profit? Well, they make a profit ' no problem. What they want you to do is going into the supermarket looking for the deal on the washing powder ' and while you in there buy many more other items. So they may have made a loss on the washing powder, but they have achieved their objective ' to get you through the doors and into their store spending money. Play them at their own game and just go in to buy the deals only. If you don't want lots of bulk items then consider teaming up with a friend, family or neighbor to see if they also want the items with you.

When not to buy in bulk This is another sneaky trick played by supermarkets. While buying larger quantities and larger pack sizes usually works out cheaper, supermarkets often discount smaller sized packets in a special offer. So don't be caught out buying a large packet when two smaller packets could have been cheaper. In fact the smaller packets may not even be on a special offer ' but still can be cheaper than the larger pack. We have been conditioned over the years to think that buying a larger pack is better value. But open your eyes and see how much the smaller packets are selling for, you may be surprised.

Buy-one-get-one-free This is the concept of buying an item and getting an identical item free. Fantastic news for the shopper ' but, the shopper needs to be smart. Don't buy the items just because they are on offer ' this is the trap so many people fall into. Again, the supermarkets want you to buy their special deal, even if you don't really want it. Be very careful of the actual price you pay for the item and the free item. You will nearly always find that while an item is on offer its price suddenly shoots up. So where it's regular price could be $3.55, the buy-one-get-one-free price is $3.99. So although you initially thought you were getting a cracking deal in the fact that you were getting a free item, it suddenly seems not such an attractive deal after all. You will make a saving, but not as big as you first thought.
